Famished! ~ a long forgotten sensation!

Something strange yet familiar occurred tonight after the terawih prayers. I felt famished! I think it has been a long time since I felt that way. That urgent and insistent need for nutrition!

It had been a good day for fasting; it was cloudy in the morning with drizzles here and there and heavy pouring rain at noon leaving the afternoon cool and humid. I had a good day at the hospital and wasn’t tired nor weakened by fasting. We had tahu sumbat with peanut sauce/chili sauce, ikan terubuk bakar, cabbage in coconut milk and pizza!

Take a wild guess which one was my iftar meal! Boringgggg!! After prayer though I had some of the baked fish with my daughter who loves ikan terubuk, so that justify my intake too!

It was during terawih that I had the hunger pangs, and it felt so foreign that it took me a while to realize what it is. I really do not know if it is good or bad. Being in maintenance phase, I eat mostly to fill the calories requirement. The food which usually are prepared minus oil and fat are ok but not that stimulating. But tonight coming home from terawih, I was ravenous and the left over tahu sumbat was extremely delicious, so was the grapefruit and half a tomato I ate.

I also had the clenx tea (precaution)as I fear what this old yet new sensation would do to my weighing scale in the morning….

But then again, this is maintenance phase, so it should be stable, right? Yeah! I put on 300gms today compared to yesterday but still within the +/- 500gms limit, so be it!

Hmmmm… I think I will have that last piece of tahu sumbat now!

Happy sahur people!
