Still in Core frequency!

Ramadhan Al-Mubarak and my Maintenance phase made their debut together this morning. I am ecstatic and grateful that I live to see another Ramadhan the holy month and pray to Allah that I won’t let this opportunity go to waste as I had the previous years but the first day of Maintenance had me gritting my teeth at the scale this morning when I weigh myself before sahur. I went up 500gms. Grrrr!

As I sat with my family and watched them tucked in rice with the mackerel curry I made late at night yesterday I was stewing in frustration, there goes my target of 10kg of weight loss down the drain! My period came yesterday and I used that as an excuse for not eating anything during sahur time and just drink my sugarless, tasteless green tea with disdain. Vowing to do a correction day (ministik) I went to work without breakfast.

I texted MG and she reassured me that period plays havoc with loss and gain. I loved her for that but I was determined to continue with correction, but it was not meant to be. My period was really heavy this time around accompanied by cramps. By mid morning I was ready to throw in the towel so I went home early and had some left over mackerel (after washing off the curry gravy) with an uncooked tomato and took a pain-killer. i was too uncomfortable to make anything else. I realized that I am still in Core phase frequency and still governed by the protocol. The oil and coconut milk in the curry terrified me.

By 3pm I was feeling better and started on the ayam percik and tahu sumbat for iftar. I used stevia for my home made chili sauce instead of sugar. For the ayam percik, I marinated the chicken in the gravy and removed them before adding the coconut cream and palm sugar to it. Once I removed the chicken, I chucked them in the oven and just let the gravy simmer to thicken without any sautee-ing. I found myself avoiding the use of oil as much as I could during the cooking.

Well, that is a good thing, is it not? Go Healthy living!

This was what I had on my plate for iftar(dinner for me). I finished the tahu sumbat but not the chicken. I am not feeling very hungry, so maybe that will be my early morning meal tomorrow (sans gravy)!
What did u have for your iftar? Hope it was a good and nutritious one!
